Gonorrhea


A sexually-transmitted disease (although sometimes can be spread to a newborn child at delivery from its mother), Gonorrhea is caused by a kidney-shaped bacterium called Neisseria-gonorrheae. Symptoms occur within the first month of being exposed and include: discharge, irritation around the genitals, itching/burning, uncomfortable urination and also, in women, abnormal bleeding between periods. It can be treated with standard antibiotics.
