 It was his six-year-old daughter who ratted him out. “Daddy,” she said on the car ride home from the mall. “Why did you kiss the saleslady?”“What!” said Derek’s wife. “Why did you kiss who?” “I didn’t …” Derek stumbled. “It was just a peck on the cheek. She was so helpful and I just …” But Sandra, Derek’s wife, saw him clearly. She knew the kiss was innocent enough in and of itself. Sandra didn’t imagine Derek had gotten the saleswoman’s number or had any plans to track her down again. But she suspected something was lurking under the surface of this story. Her usually reliable husband had a roving eye. He would hardly be alone. According to the results of a MSNBC.com/iVillage Lust, Love & Loyalty survey, approximately one in five adults in monogamous relationships, or 22 percent, have cheated on their current partner. The rate is even higher among married men. And nearly half of people admit to being unfaithful at some point in their lives. Sandra had a hard time imagining that Derek would go so far as to actually cheat on her. But she guessed he had a pretty active fantasy life. And even she had to admit that after nearly a decade of marriage, their love life was getting stale. So she decided to let Derek spend the night with someone else. That Friday when Derek got home from work, he had a surprise waiting for him at the door. It was a lusty blonde dressed in a revealing nurse’s uniform. “I’m so glad you’re home,” Sandra murmured. “I think it’s time for your sponge bath,” “Whaaat?” he stammered. “Where’s Maddy?” “I think your wife took Maddy to a sleepover at a friend’s house,” the nurse replied. “So tonight you are all mine. And I understand you are in need of some serious treatment.” “Oh yeah,” Derek said. “I’m really hurting.” Sandra dropped down to her knees. “Hmm,” she said, her hand on her husband’s belt buckle. “Let’s take a closer look.” | |
